BNI Reading Oracle

BNI Reading Oracle is a group of local business people that I can wholeheartedly rely on and refer on to my clients. What's more, it's a varied and resourceful sales team for my company.

I gave a referral to Robin Thorn of Great Wedding Entertainment who was looking for new DJs. I introduced him to my son's friend Dan. Robin met with Dan and Matt and offered to help them with a party (lighting, sound etc) so that he could see how Dan worked. The party was a huge succcess and Robin has now booked Dan for some prom nights and 18th birthday parties. A new DJ for Robin and an amazing break for Dan. A true win/win.

Not long after I became a BNI member, a colleague of my wife's asked her if she knew anyone who was a specialist in HR training. She didn't, but she passed the query on to me, knowing that I had already made a lot of useful contacts through BNI. And as it happens I knew just the man - Dean Weller. It was that easy. Dean's name was passed on to the company looking for a trainer and before long a training session had been booked. And Dean is now a regular fixture on the training roster at the PRCA, an association that provides support and training for the public relations industry. It's a real buzz when something like that happens because I know Dean could never have found out about that vacancy for a trainer if we hadn't known each other. And of course we never would have known each other if it weren't for BNI.

One of the most memorable referrals I've received was when I attended another BNI chapter as a visitor. I was lucky enough to walk away with the opportunity to re-brand a company in Goring by a non-BNI member who was also a visitor that day. The opportunity turned into business and the company is still a client to this day – a great example of how to take advantage of your BNI privileges.

I put Paul Allen of Paul Allen Media in touch with a themed events company that we work closely with. The events company was struggling with its online social media, and failing to realise its true online marketing potential. To date Paul Allen Media has been actively involved in developing both an online presence and a structured plan of how to actively turn online enquiries and social media commuincation into a profitable sales thread. This has developed into many exciting events and new clients that they otherwise would not of known about, let alone been able to support with their unique array of services. This is ongoing, so the profitability of the contact is hard to put into figures, but having spoken to both parties regularly I know that this was a fantastic connection with a mutually beneficial relationship which will exist for many years to come.
